Queensland Police are actively enforcing the rules around illegal, high-powered electric motorbikes on public paths and roads. Any electric bike with a motor larger than 250W, or that operates solely on a throttle above six kilometres per hour, is legally classified as a motor vehicle. This means it requires full registration, a motorcycle license, and absolutely cannot be ridden on shared coastal paths.
