Frequently asked questions

questions we've got answers

What are the Australian e-bike laws?

Road Legal Requirements

Before riding your eBike on Australian roads, please familiarize yourself with these key regulations:

Power Limitations:Most Australian states require eBikes to have a maximum continuous motor power of 250W

New South Wales (NSW) allows up to 500W of motor power

Speed Restrictions:

Pedal assist functionality must cut off at 25 km/h

Throttle-equipped models are limited to 6 km/h on throttle power alone

Throttle Usage:

Throttles function primarily as a start-assist feature

Once reaching 6 km/h, riders must engage the pedals to maintain or increase speedHigher pedal assist settings require minimal pedaling effort while maintaining legal compliance

Please note: Always check your local state or territory regulations for the most current requirements as legislation may change.

Standard Configuration

All eWhip models come in a standard configuration that meets Australian road regulations:

250W motor power output

Pedal assist that cuts off at 25 km/h

Configuration Options

Your eWhip's performance settings can be adjusted based on:

Your Location: Different states and territories across Australia have varying regulations regarding electric bikes. Some jurisdictions may permit different specifications for certain uses.

Riding Environment: Full performance capabilities can be unlocked when riding exclusively on private property where public road regulations do not apply.

Our eWhip models feature adaptable performance settings to accommodate these different scenarios. When used on public roads and paths, the standard configuration ensures compliance with road regulations.

Are EWHIP e-bikes waterproof? Can I ride in the rain?

Our e-bikes are water-resistant, which means they're fine for riding in light rain or on wet roads. However, they’re not fully waterproof or designed to be submerged in water. When cleaning your bike, steer clear of pressure washers or high-powered jets—use a damp cloth instead.

How long does the battery last before I need a new one?

EWHIP runs on a high-quality Samsung battery that’s built to go the distance—expect around 700 to 1000 full charge cycles. That gives you a few solid years of rides, depending on how often you're out there.

Just like your phone, the battery will slowly lose some capacity over time. But with proper care, you’re looking at about 4–5 years before needing a replacement—if you're riding a few times a week.

"Bought The Captain a week ago and I’m honestly riding it more than my car. Beach runs, coffee missions, even quick gym trips—this thing rips."

"I use mine to commute to work and hit the Gym after. Charges quick, goes hard, and turns heads everywhere."
